Write and send a newsletter

Guide 6 min read 7 steps Updated 1 Nov 2026 Copy link

Build a newsletter from sections of your own listings, network listings, your articles and NLS News, check the exact email, and send it to your consented contacts.

Your newsletter goes to your own contacts: the people in your CRM who have agreed to hear from you. You build it from sections. A section can hold your own listings, listings from the network, an article you have published, or a story from NLS News. You arrange the sections, check the preview on the right, and send.

The composer shows you how many consented contacts you have before you start. Only those contacts are counted and only they receive it.

Before you start

  • Contacts in your CRM with marketing consent.
  • An idea of what goes in: which listings, and whether you want to include an article or a news story.
  • If you want to feature a colleague's property, its reference, town or title so you can find it.
  1. Open the composer

On your dashboard, open the newsletter from the Marketing card. On your phone it is under Marketing in the menu.

At the top, the composer tells you how many consented contacts you have.

  2. Write the subject and introduction

Start with a subject line. It is also the headline of the email. Then add a short, friendly introduction: what is new this month, or why you are writing.

  3. Add sections

Add sections one at a time. Click My listings, tick the properties you want, and click Add to newsletter. Network listings lets you search by reference, town or title, so you can feature a colleague's property too.

My articles adds a piece you have published, with a button to read it on your page. NLS News adds a story from The NLS.

Note Each section has a title you can change, for example Just listed by me.

  4. Arrange and check

The arrows move a section up or down. The cross removes a section, or a single property inside one.

On the right is the exact email your contacts will get. Scroll through it, and click Update preview after any change so the preview catches up.

  5. Translate, if you need to

Translate to Spanish rewrites your subject, introduction and section titles. The property cards stay as they are. Click it again to switch back.

It is a fresh translation each time, so give it a quick read before you send.

  6. Save a draft, or review and send

Save draft keeps your work. Unsent drafts wait in the History tab, ready to continue. Send a test to myself puts one copy in your own inbox first.

When it is ready, click Review & send. You see the final email one more time, and exactly how many contacts it goes to. Click Send. It is queued and goes out in the background. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and anyone who unsubscribes drops off your list.

  7. Read the results

The History tab lists every newsletter you have sent, with how many went out, the opens, the clicks and your open rate.

Good to know

  • Fewer, better sections. Three or four sections read well on a phone. A long newsletter gets skimmed.
  • Lead with your own listings and put network or news sections below them. Use the arrows to reorder.
  • Articles make a newsletter worth opening when you have nothing new to list. Publish one in My Articles first, then add it here.
  • A regular rhythm beats a big one-off. A short monthly newsletter keeps you in front of clients between sales.
  • Keep a draft running. Add a listing to the draft whenever you publish one, and send when it is full.
